The earliest church in Victoria to be built in a Lombardic Romanesque style, designed by Reed and Barnes, and erected in 1866-67. The polychrome brick exterior, with tall campanile to the south-west, is especially notable. A brick church built in 1878 to the design of Reed & Barnes and exhibiting a mysterious discontinuity between the two bays at the entrance end and the body of the church. Though of little architectural significance the building is of historical interest because it became the first Lebanese Catholic Church in Victoria in 1958. Classified: 13/07/1989 File Note. The former Prahran Congregational Church is of State significance as an early local example of the Nonconformist tradition, as a prominent early church work by an important firm of architects, and as the oldest surviving example of a ramped auditorium-type church interior in Victoria.
